Who is DMR?
DMR is an Italian manufacturer of custom wood and wood-aluminum windows and doors. Founded in 1902 in Gavi, Italy, the company combines more than a century of woodworking tradition with modern manufacturing technology.
What products does DMR offer?
DMR designs and builds made-to-measure wood and wood-aluminum windows, doors and lift-and-slide systems. Our collections include Contemporary, Storia, Industrial, Uni-One and Hybrid, each with its own design character.
Are DMR windows and doors made to measure?
Yes. Every DMR product is manufactured to the specific requirements of your project, including dimensions, profiles, materials and finishes. Our technical department can also study custom solutions for special projects.
What is the difference between wood and wood-aluminum windows?
Solid wood windows are wood inside and out, offering a fully natural look. Wood-aluminum windows keep warm wood on the inside and add a protective aluminum shell on the outside for lower exterior maintenance. Read our full comparison: Wood vs. Wood-Aluminum Windows.
Which DMR collection is right for my home?
Contemporary suits modern, minimal homes; Storia reinterprets classic and historic window design; Industrial is inspired by loft-style architecture; Uni-One is our next-generation window line; and Hybrid offers a flush-to-wall design with an invisible frame. What is a lift-and-slide door?
A lift-and-slide door uses a lifting mechanism so large, heavy glass panels can slide smoothly and then seal tightly when closed. DMR offers Contemporary HS, Industrial HS and Industrial HS Fly systems. Learn more in our Lift-and-Slide Doors guide.
Do you offer threshold-free sliding doors?
Yes. Industrial HS Fly is designed as a threshold-free lift-and-slide system for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor floors. Floor levels, drainage and waterproofing should be planned early with your architect.
What finishes and colors are available?
Wood frames can be finished with a wide range of stains and paints, and wood-aluminum windows allow different finishes inside and outside. Download our Finishes Catalogue on the Catalogs page to explore the options.
Are DMR windows energy efficient?
Wood is a naturally insulating material, and DMR windows can be configured with insulated glazing and high-quality seals. Actual performance depends on the complete configuration, so we recommend reviewing the technical data for your specific project.
Are wood windows difficult to maintain?
Solid wood windows need periodic inspection and refinishing of exterior surfaces to stay protected. Wood-aluminum windows reduce exterior maintenance thanks to their aluminum shell. DMR also seals the end grain of wooden components to help limit moisture absorption.
Can DMR windows be used in renovations and historic homes?
Yes. Our made-to-measure production makes DMR suitable for both new builds and renovations. The Storia collection is especially designed for classic and historic architecture.
